How to backup your existing database and return it to usYou will need to first backup your existing database to a floppy disk and either post this to us or compress the files using WinZip and email this compressed file to us. Backing up your databaseFrom the Main Menu click the Backup button and the back-up and restore menu will be displayed.
Click the Backup button and the backup screen will be displayed.
Put a blank floppy disk in the drive and select the floppy disk drive by clicking on the small arrow to the right of the Target Drive selection box. Click the GO button. The database files will now be copied to the floppy disk. If you are posting the disk to us, clearly label the floppy disk with your practice name and the date before sending it to our Technical Support department at the address found in the Contact Us link at the top of this page. If you plan to return the files via the internet you will need to follow the instructions below. Compressing your database filesThe need to compress the database files are two fold. Firstly, this speeds up the transfer via email and more importantly, secondly it allows the transfer via NHS net which prevents the transmission of files in their original form. If you do not have a copy of WinZip an evaluation copy can be downloaded by clicking here. The following assumes you have a copy of WinZip installed on your computer and have backed up your version 2 database to a floppy disk that is in the floppy drive. Start Windows Explorer, insert the floppy disk and select the 3 1/2" drive. Once the backup files are displayed the the right-hand pane type Ctrl-A (hold down the Ctrl key while typing the A key). This will select all the files on the disk.
Place the mouse pointer over one of the files and right click. From the menu displayed select the WinZip option and the following will be shown.
Select Zip and E-Mail Plus...
Click on the Radio button Use this name: and type in a unique name (an abbreviation of your practice name). If you wish to add a password tick the box and click OK. Add your password and repeat to confirm.
The files will then be zipped and your email program should start with the WinZip file attached. Enter the following address in the To: box: TechSupport@anticoagulation.com Enter a suitable comment in the Subject: box and add your practice name and address in the email body. Click the Send button. If you used a password to protect the file remember to fax it to us on +44 (0)1326 240548. |
